South Florida is a location that I've wanted to get to for years. Finally, it fit into my schedule and a trip was planned on short notice. In a fast week, I photographed at the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades, Big Cypress National Preserve, Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Corkscrew Swamp, Myakka State Park, Venice Rookery and the Florida Wild Bird Center. This was a very productive week. I wish it had been a month.

I returned the next spring to many of the same locations with equal success, confirming that the first trip wasn’t a fluke. Hopefully I’ll be back in south Florida before long.
